Description
About Leval: Leval’s vineyards, centred around Gascony in the Languedoc-Roussillon, offer ideal conditions for the cultivation of Pinot Noir, a grape variety that is extremely fussy about where it succeeds. While Pinot Noir is not planted extensively in the Languedoc due to the dry, hot Mediterranean climate, at Leval, the Pinot Noir enjoys favourable hillside sites which benefit from ocean breezes and slight altitude, which cool the grapes overnight and provide respite from the often intense heat of the southern French sun. This allows grapes to reach full ripeness without overheating, providing concentration of fruit but without losing the characteristic Pinot Noir acidity and freshness. Leval ferments its Pinot in stainless steel in order to retain this freshness that is the hallmark of good Pinot Noir, before being bottle and released at a young age while its ripe flavours and juicy acidity are fresh and succulent, revealing a light and delicate Pinot Noir of great charm.
