Description
About Les Frères Laffitte: Christophe and Sébastien are two true Gascoun brothers who can trace their ancestry in their village of Ayzieu back to the 15th century. The name ‘La Fitte’ originates from the word ‘stone’ in the ancient Gascoun language. Amazingly, there has been only one son born to succeed each generation since that time. Until now….The family historically made only vintage Armagnac and it was the brothers’ parents who made the decision to diversify into wine and in a single generation they have grown their property from 18 hectares to 120 hectares of vines.
Vinification: Grapes are harvested at night. Every varietal is vilified seperately, they are all destemmed and directly pressed. Pressing is slow to get this elegant bright colour from the skin. Then a 15 day cold maceration period occurs before alcoholic fermentation. Ageing on the lees for 2 months.
Description: Appealing on the nose showing sweet raspberry, apple and peach notes with hints od floral and spice. Palate is light and refreshing, displaying pristine fruit intensity backed by vibrant acidity. Very easy on the palate.
Press: “Despite a relatively pale colour this is a full flavoured rosé with big ripe strawberry fruits, textured strawberry coulis flavours on the palate and a pleasing spice edge on the middle palate and on the finish. Would work well with spiced dishes” Leslie Williams, Irish Examiner.
