Description
About Carlania Celler : Jordi, Sònia, Juli and Mariona are a family from Barberà de la Conca who work and live in the village. After years of cultivating the family land and selling the grapes to the Barberà agricultural cooperative, Carlania began to make their own wines in 2007. A dream that came true with the construction of a small winery in the same town in 2009. Using the region’s native Trepat variety as the star of the show, they produce natural wines using organic grapes and no additives, revealing the characteristics that make them unique. Ambassadors of Trepat, an exclusive local variety from this area, they are the only winery that use it to make all their wines.
Vinification: Carlania Soofree comes from vineyards certified and recognised by CCPAE (Catalan Council of Organic Production). These are remote estates with unique characteristics, lying between 400 and 500 metres above sea level. They use biodynamic agriculture and phytosanitary treatments that do not leave any residue. They make their biodynamic preparations according to the lunar calendar. The harvest is carried out manually in 20 kg boxes. In the winery, Carlania Soofree is vinified with native yeasts and before alcoholic fermentation finishes, it is bottled so that the process continues in the bottle. That is where it ages for a short time until disgorgement, where a small amount of the same wine is used to fill the bottles. It is not filtered or clarified and no sulphur is added. It may have some natural sediment.
