Wairau River Valley
Wyebrook Estate is the wine growing operation of long time Marlburians and winegrowers Steve and Steph Fisher. Wyebrook is a 22.7 ha vineyard on the corner of Ben Morven and New Renwick Roads in the Southern Valleys district of Marlborough. It is in the shape of a ‘Y’, that resembles two streams converging to form a ‘babbling brook’, hence the name. The vineyard is planted solely to Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine maker, Alan McCorkingdale. has wine making experience in Burgundy, Champagne, Alsace, The Rheingau, Hunter Valley and Tasmania and is also actively involved in mentoring, wine production and wine marketing to New Zealand and international producers.
The wines are Machine harvesting, crushing, de-stemming, pressing,juice fining, flotation and cold settling for juice clarity, yeast inoculation, fermentation in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks, chilling,lees stirring, blending, fining, cold stabilisation, filtration. Gooseberry, tropical fruits, dried herbs and citrus flavours with hints of stone fruits and yellow flowers. Crisp acidity and herbal notes, intensely fruity, elegant and lively.
